A little more support

You deserve to be
cared for, too.

The early weeks with a new baby can be wonderful, exhausting and everything in between! As a mum myself, I know how much it can mean to have someone looking after you, too. You don’t have to do it all.

It’s easy to put your own needs last when you have a new baby. I offer kind, organised, practical care that makes space for your rest, recovery and wellbeing, and helps your whole household adjust. A nourishing meal. Someone you trust with your baby while you sleep. A listening ear, guidance if you need it, and useful things quietly taken care of.

Care shaped around your family, without judgement or expectations about how things should be done.

A personal approach

Hello, I’m Emmy.

I’m Emmy, a postnatal doula, private nanny and mum myself. My background brings together scientific research (PhD), teaching in higher education and supporting young children through those important first years at school.

For me, feeling well is about many little things—nourishing food, time outdoors, movement, music and a good laugh. That shapes the support I offer: a nourishing lunch, time to rest, or company for a little fresh air when you feel ready. There’s room for conversation and laughter, too. Small things, shaped around you, that can make the days feel more manageable.

I believe new mothers deserve to be cared for as well as their babies. A mum’s wellbeing matters in its own right. Supporting her is fundamental to the wellbeing of the whole family. My approach is warm, discreet and down-to-earth: I take time to get to know you, notice what needs doing and ease some of the everyday load.

Whether you need rest, reassurance or an extra pair of hands, I work around your preferences and the way you want to care for your family.

“What I valued most was feeling cared for as a mum. She brought kindness, reassurance and practical help, and made space for me to enjoy being with my baby. It was the little things—being listened to, having something taken off my hands, and knowing I had someone alongside me—that made such a difference.”

Practical support with your baby

A little guidance. Growing confidence.

When feeding feels uncertain, your baby is hard to settle or everyone offers different advice, it can help to have someone experienced alongside you. I offer hands-on care and practical guidance, with time to ask questions, try things together and get to know your baby.

Still waiting for your baby to arrive? I can also help you feel more prepared, with practical guidance on baby essentials, everyday care and what to expect in those first weeks at home.

Feeding & winding

Practical support around breast, bottle or combination feeding, recognising feeding cues, understanding frequent and cluster feeding, and winding. Help with responsive bottle feeding, preparing feeds, storing expressed milk and sterilising equipment. And if you need more specialist feeding support, I can help you find the right person to guide you.

Sleep, settling & comfort

Understanding newborn sleep, tiredness cues and frequent waking, and exploring gentle ways to soothe and settle your baby. Safer sleep guidance, swaddling where appropriate, and practical support through unsettled evenings, wind, colic or reflux.

Everyday baby care

Building confidence with holding, bathing, nappy changing, cord care, dressing for the temperature and safe babywearing. I can show you, help you practise or take care of these things while you have a break.

Together, we can make sense of reliable information and find specialist feeding or medical support when needed.

“Emmy has not only been the perfect carer to our two children (3yo & newborn) she has kept us sane and functional through the arrival of our second child over the first 6 months. Our eldest absolutely loved her company, and our baby would easily settle with her from day one. Also the moment she had spare time she would help around the house, sterilising bottles, loading/unloading dishwasher, hovering...anything she could do to help.”

Space for your recovery

Looking after you, too.

01

Space to rest

Attentive baby care while you sleep, shower or simply take a moment. Listening, companionship and practical reassurance when you need them.

02

Food & nourishment

Nourishing, light meals and snacks prepared in your kitchen, with your recovery and wellbeing in mind. A proper lunch, something easy to reach for, and one less thing to think about—for you as well as your family.

03

A lighter load

A tidy kitchen, a load of laundry or fresh bedding. Thoughtful help with agreed priorities, so the practical things feel less overwhelming. Rest assured that sinkful of bottles will be washed, sterilised, and off your hands—promise!

“Emmy has been an amazing help and support since welcoming my baby. … there is no-one else we would trust as much as Emmy. She is patient, kind and also uses initiative to get things done. … We have found an absolute gem!”

Two ways to be supported

A day for you.
Or a little more continuity.

A single visit to make room for rest, or a familiar face in the early weeks. We agree what matters most, with room to adapt to the day. Each visit follows your priorities, rather than a checklist of tasks to complete.

Regular care · Over six weeks

The New Baby

Once weekly · 6 × four-hour visits£1,320(£220 per four-hour half-day session)
Twice weekly · 12 × four-hour visits£2,640(£220 per four-hour half-day session)
What’s included

All the core care included in the Sanctuary Day, plus:

  • Planning together — an initial session to understand your priorities and agree how you’d like to be supported.
  • Regular time set aside for you — four-hour visits, once or twice a week, agreed in advance.
  • Contact between visits — messaging during agreed working hours for questions and reassurance.
  • Time to work things through — space to focus on what you’d like more help with, whether that’s feeding, settling or understanding your baby’s cues. Over the weeks, we can build on what you’ve learnt, try different approaches and see what works for your family.
  • Looking ahead — time during our final visit to reflect and discuss any ongoing support you’d find helpful.
